Hi Jennifer,

That’s a neat idea, sounds similar to how Omnisio lets users annotate videos with notes. I think there are going to be a lot of new tools evolving to explore the value in the comments.

We actually do allow you to search comments by topic on BackType, and even subscribe to a feed or an email alert so you can be notified when somebody mentions a topic you care about in a comment.

I think the future of business directories are user generated, social, internet yellow pages. I believe this will help keep the content fresh and up to date. Jippidy.com is one such user generated small business video yellow pages.

Dexknows used to have a Fast Facts form that you could use to add business profile information. They have recently replaced this with a new system that will help you optimize keywords for your listing. If you are working directly with DexKnows, I believe you can request the keyword list from your sales rep. The list will have specific terms suggested that are related to your category. You would then just select the terms relevant to your business and submit it back to Dex.

Great blog. The pay per call business seems to be booming and the customer is the winner in this. For example, if I want directory assistance from a live agent and for free, I can call 800-411-SAVE. There are other free directory assistance providers, but this one is like premier service considering it is live agents. It must follow the google model with ad revenue and the pay per call makes sense. Now if they could do this with cars that would be AWESOME!

Jennifer, great post. How great would it be for Panera to blog their daily specials or soups. I think that more and more businesses will figure out how to convey their pulse to the online world and interact more with consumers and their neighbors. Or at least I’m hoping for that!
